National Falls Awareness Week

  • Falls amongst the elderly cost the government over 1 Billion Pounds
  • 3,000 plus falls are recorded every day (Age Concern)
  • The majority of falls with people over 65 are in the bathroom or toilet - difficult areas to access.

This week we are focusing on the somewhat daunting statistics associated with falls, particularly those occurring at home.

Whilst a large proportion of falls arise 'by accident' there are huge numbers of people who fall quite easily and frequently at home or in care. These people fall due to frailty, a clinical condition or a disability. They need to know that they can get back on their feet with the minimum of effort or distress.

The answer to this is to have on hand, either a Mangar Elk or a Mangar Camel. Discreet and portable, both these powered pneumatic lifting solutions will raise the faller from the floor to normal seated chair height. No lifting is required on the part of the carer. Simple and dignified to use, they will rescue the faller in the most awkward confined spaces.
